'Soulphil hopes to open space for the public to connect through performance. To move, talk, and create shared experiences. Focusing on how togetherness learned through movement, can build tools that sustain heterogeneous communities. Learning what gives each community its heartbeat. Soulphil's mission in life is to sprinkle glitter, like Tinkerbell, through the power of dance and words.'

About Filip Kijowski 

​

​Filip is a queer interdisciplinary artist working with dance, text, objects, and the audience's willingness to get involved. Striving towards seeing how these elements marry in creating performance. He works in experimental ways, through improvisation and the unknown -  Often with no pre-set structures, excited to discover new continents. 

 

His performances discuss themes of Freedom, Flow, Identity, and Community. Furthermore, they are interested in how these themes can tell the experiences the body carries from,

‘Growing up gay in a straight man's world'. ​

 

His work is interested in the potentials of site-specific, non-traditional theatre spaces. And collaborating alongside people who at the time occupy those spaces in completing a performance.

 

​Filip achieved a degree in BA Dance Studies at the University of Roehampton in 2018, receiving The ‘Andy Hardy’ Prize for Excellence. He previously trained at The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in Musical Theatre.

 

He currently nomadically shifts between London, Warsaw, and Bangkok. Working as a freelance artist.

​Privilege and wanderlust allowed him to travel and share work at Dance and Performance Art festivals in England, Poland, Wales, Thailand, Bangladesh, and South Korea. Facilitation experiences included workshops at schools and Universities globally such as; Amersham College, Dhaka University, Seed of Peace Nonviolent Communication Community in Bristol and, The Polish School in Bangkok. 

He worked with Spine Party Movement as an assistant teacher on the BA and MA Dance programs at Srinakharinwirot and Suan Sunandha Rajabhat (SSRU) Universities BKK.

He has an ongoing Dance friendship with Spine Party Movement and Project C in Bangkok. In the role of assistant choreographer and project coordinator. And a close bond with Roehampton University where he left hidden, bits of his heart. 

 

Other names Filip encountered professionally include Bangkok Arts & Cultural Centre, The Blind Theatre Thailand, Contact Gonzo, and Rebel Art Space. In Poland Theatre Roma WAW, Theatre Rozrywki PL, and Walt Disney - Sun Studio.

 

Finally, he volunteered for projects including; 'Parkinson’s Can Dance' at the ‘Ballet Boyz’ studios in Kingston, FEST EN FEST produced by H2Dance at Trinity Laban, and Rajaviti Home for Girls in Bangkok.
